Kyrgyz artisans have long been known for their skill at making
beautiful and practical things from felt. The most unique of them are the national
carpets - shyrdaks and ala-kiyiz. A Shyrdak is not simply a carpet, it's a picture,
where Kyrgyz artisans reflect their feelings and philosophy. The technique of
making such carpets is unique and, at the same time, simple.
Kyrgyz artisans have found a new use for their national technique and now they
make not only felt carpets, but also felt pannos. Take this opportunity to get
to know the process for making felt carpets and make your own carpet.
Itinerary
| Day 1 | Transfer from Bishkek and enjoy a picnic on the way to the felt carpet workshop where you will be shown a painting process using natural paints. After this, you can watch how to make shyrdaks and ala-kiyiz, followed by dinner with an Uzbek family. Stay overnight stay in the family's private house. |
| Day 2 |
Rest and relax on the shore of the lake or go walking and horse riding. Watch a demonstration of making felt pannos. Return to Bishkek. |
