Since ancient times, the Great Silk Road has attracted people from different countries. This road has become a bridge between peoples. Now you have a great opportunity to visit Kyrgyzstan, a small unique part of the Great Silk Road, to return to the past.
This tour offers you an excellent chance to get acquainted with the history and nature of Kyrgyzstan. During this tour you will visit magnificent historical places dating back to 9-11th Century, see the incredibly beautiful Kyrgyz Mountains, relax on the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake Ö the Pearl of Kyrgyzstan, learn about the culture of the people and eat the tastiest national dishes.

Itinerary

Day 1 Europe-Bishkek (with British or Turkish airlines)
Arrival in Bishkek early in the morning. Transfer to the Shumkar Guesthouse. The panorama of a city with a backdrop of the majestic snow-covered Ala-Too Mountains will await you during your excursion around the city in the afternoon. Overnight in the guesthouse. (800 m above sea level)
Day 2

Bishkek - Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata)
Transfer to Lake Issyk-Kul (270 km). Visit a place on the Great Silk Road - the Burana Tower (11th Century) the remains of Karakhanid's Empire in Central Asia on the way. Enjoy a short picnic in the Boom Canyon. Excursion to the Petroglyph" Open Air Museum in Cholpon-Ata. Accommodation in a guesthouse. (1,600 m above sea level)

Day 3

Cholpon-Ata - Song-Kul
Transfer to Lake Song-Kul (270 km). Visit a felt carpet workshop, where you can not only buy souvenirs but make them yourself, on the way. Local people live and graze their livestock on the meadows (jailoo) around the lake, from June till September. You will taste the wilderness and freedom of nomadic life here. It will be possible to taste the Kyrgyz traditional drink kymyz (fermented mare's milk). Overnight stay in a yurta camp. (3,016 m above sea level).

Day 4

Song-Kul - Naryn
Transfer to Naryn (160 km). Excursion to a Kyrgyz Art Gallery supported by Mairam Akaeva, the wife of the Kyrgyz President. Kyrgyz folklore programme in the evening. Family-run accommodation in Naryn (1,900 m above sealevel).

Day 5 Naryn - Tash-Rabat
Transfer (115 km) to this historic resting place on the Great Silk Road - the Tash-Rabat Caravan-Sarai (12th C). Free time in the afternoon. You can go for a short walk or a horse riding excursion and visit Kyrgyz shepherds who live in this area. Overnight in a yurta camp. (2,800 m above sea level)
Day 6 Tash-Rabat - Torugart - Kashgar
Transfer to the Kyrgyz-Chinese Border (150 km). You will cross the high point of this tour, the Torugart Pass (4,010 m above sea level). Transfer to Kasgar. Accommodation in a hotel. Level of difficulty: There are no difficulties on the route, but tourists should have an average level of fitness because sometimes they have long transfers for 6-7 hours.

Level of difficulty: This tour is recommended for people with cycling experience in mountain (cycling time approximately 4-6 hours per day).

Conditions: It is necessary to bring a sleeping bag, warm clothes and spare parts might be useful.
